Lessons in Manchester
MPB's instruction program provides a solid foundation of fundamentals that equips the student with the skills necessary to pursue band- and solo-playing, as well as any individual pursuit on the instrument. Lessons are held weekly, with a focus on one-on-one instruction.
Our students and instructors enjoy an environment that is free of the rigid expectations for advancement, and results-based curriculum that too often prevails in school settings. All of our instructors have a minimum of 10 years of playing experience in solo- and band-settings, and often they have many times that!
There are some things that are unique to learning the Bagpipes and Drums, but in general, consider it the same as learning any classical instrument.
Please contact us about your interest in learning! Young or Old, beginner or experienced alike, our door is open to everyone who’s genuinely interested in learning. We do ask that you contact us prior to attending one of our weekly instruction sessions, so we can be sure that someone will be prepared to speak with you!
Below are some things to keep in mind about our instruction program:
Piping and Drumming can get technical! We work hard to explain the necessary technique so that just about anyone can master it, but, keep in mind that it can take some time! While everyone is different, pipers can take up to 18 months to start on the full instrument (up to 12 for drummers).
Weekly at-home practice is required in between lessons!
Lessons are free of cost! There are some start-up costs for your practice instrument (about $90 for pipers / $50 for drummers).
Though we would love to, we can’t instruct everyone. Lessons are available based on our instructors’ capacity to take on new students. Drop us a line to tell us if you’d like to come to an evening instruction session!
